Hi Does anyone know the length of the original valves for these early Moore CS1s?

I have seen short and long spring sets by Paul Norman for these.

Does anyone know of a reliable info/data source for the post-war Big 4 engines?  Having learnt enough on the 16H's (current bike is now running superbly - see recent carb conversation) I decided to expand my SV experience to the big brother.

I have seen conflicting information on oil quantity for the long roadholders, both from factory sources.
The factory Maintenance and Instruction Manual quotes 1/4 pint [142cc].

I have just rejoined the club after an absence of 30 years or so.  i have a lot to mention so apologise for the length of this. 

We went out on a ride last week, a.j.s. , matchless, triumph, and me on the 1959 es2.
After a good ride of about 50 miles, disaster.

Did anybody tried to put an 1948 ES2 engine in a WD 16h frame ?

Is there enough room up there and did the cranckcase fit the diamond frame ?
