Calendar Request
I guess I should keep the following request short and sharp, so as not to lose the interest of a fine audience before the end of the article. So here goes. Please, please, please, take the time to consider showing off your Norton in the 2026 NOC calendar and then ride it to a delightfully photogenic spot to take a photo that everyone else will love to see hanging on a wall somewhere in their house.
Take note that I’m asking you to ride it somewhere. I’m sorry, but I believe that most folk don’t want to look at a picture of a Norton that has just been pushed out from its winter slumber and stood in front of the shed or garage door. I’d also ask that you check around your bike for rubbish and try not to have a telegraph pole sticking up out of the fuel tank. If you need inspiration, look at previous calendars to get an idea of what makes the grade.
As you are probably aware by now, our aim for 2026 is to get away from the Commando leaning content of the calendar and instead, provide the club with what some might call a tastier filling. I have been asked the same question after every calendar I’ve produced so far. ‘Why are there so many Commandos in it’? Last year I received three pictures of lightweights. I won’t include them if they don’t meet the requirements, and they were up against a whole range of pictures of our bigger mounts. This gives you even more reason to take your Jubilee or Navigator just a little bit further to get that exceptional photo. We would also like more vintage and veteran content, so come on all you owners.
As you must know, we are running a competition again for 2026. There are prizes to be won, as detailed in Roadholder. No447, Pg16. So please, grab your camera, fill that tank with fuel and go for a ride. And remember. ‘Background, background, background’. The background shouldn’t overpower the Norton in the foreground, but it must be pleasant on the eye, or of interest. No acres of car park, curbs or double yellow lines and no monster background hedges or white sheets. A general shot of an event with your bike lost somewhere in the crowd isn’t what I’m looking for either.
If you are still not sure how best to go about it, but want to take part in the competition, by all means contact me but please get those photos coming in to ‘kevf.12wolf@gmail.com’.
