Obituary - William Alfred Cakebread

William Alfred Cakebread known as Bill died peacefully at home in East Sussex on 17 October 2024 at the age of 82. He was born on 9 November 1941 in New Cross S E London and leaves behind his devoted wife Valerie, brother Bob, son Stephen, daughter Alison and grandchildren.

Dear Members,

Due to health issues, I am about to start a treatment plan lasting approximately six months.

I’ve handed over the days running of the Norton Day at the National Motorcycle Museum to our Vice Chairman Rich Thomas, although I continue to work in the background on the final actions.

International Rally - 2025 CONFIRMED

Next year's International Rally will be held in Guérande North West France from Thursday 12th to Monday 16th June.

Guérande is situated near the Atlantic Coast in the Departement of Loire-Atlantique.

Accommodation will be in a campsite with chalets and camping places.

Booking will be through the NOC website and payment will be sent directly to the organisers in Euros.

Air Ambulance Appeal

The Kent/Surrey/Sussex Air Ambulance are running a campaign to purchase their own helicopter instead of paying very substantial costs to lease hire, as they do at the moment. This would enable them to fly more missions each day and save more lives, something very pertinent to motorcyclists.

The NOC has decided to dispose of its Events Van, a professionally fitted-out 2007 Mercedes Sprinter Extra-Long Wheelbase Hi-Roof model powered by the 2.15ltr 4-cylinder diesel engine c/w manual 6-speed gearbox, ideal as a paddock-wagon.
