I've just finished reading the Dominator Model Directory, well done to all involved in putting it together.

On reading the P10 chapter one thing that caught my eye was the "disappearance from the scene" of Charles Udall, the bikes designer.   All sounded rather mysterious, I thought.

My understanding of the situation was that he left AMC in the summer of 1966 after the Dennis Poore (Manganese Bronze) takeover.

He was put on what we now call "gardening leave" after it was found he could not work with the new team headed by Bernard Hooper to try to get the P10 ready for production.  I would suggest that Udall was very possessive of his design and didn't like being sidelined by the new guys.
After that Udall moved to Cornwall to live. Incidentally, his neighbour there was C B (Cyd) Smith,  Amals top man at that time.

In 1969 Udall moved back to the Midlands, back to his old job at Veloce where he worked on their scooter engine which, by now, had found favour with hovercraft enthusiasts.  He also worked with Ken Sprayson on what was hoped to be a new frame for the Velo singles.

He left Veloce a year later as part of the clear out prior to the deal with E&HP Smith (investors).  Unfortunately, that deal fell through and Udall retired and Veloce closed.

I've seen very little about Udall's time at AMC, the P10, something about sorting out con-rod problems and I believe he did the electric starter on the lightweight(?).  Anything else?

Charles Udal had a brother Len that worked with him at Velocette, and then he went on to work at Triumph in their experimental department with Doug Hele. Len worked as a race mechanic and on other projects at Velocette.
