I'm currently restoring a 1960 99 Slimline Dominator & have found a rear mudguard with rear light assembly & bars on ebay but can't be sure whether it will fit. The advertiser doesn't seem to be able to answer my query as to what it came from but I suspect that it is off a wideline.
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a Slimline & a Wideline rear mudguard?
Thanks
Nigel

The 1960 clip down seat is vulnerable to becoming detached and is a bit of a liability, should not have been capable of passing an MOT as not securely fixed. I would opt for the later dzus type fitting if starting from scratch. The clip down seats are also very rare and not listed as pattern spares.

Strangely there was a 1960 clip down seat on eBay with a starting price of £280. And no takers

I don't know the answer to…
I don't know the answer to that Paul, certainly the clip down seat was dropped very quickly , only used for a year, 1960 I think , but there was no technical reason it could not be used on a standard bike. Perhaps fitted to more DL's to use up a stock of expensive bathtubs that were cut and ready to go.There were some interesting decisions made around then. I have it on good authority that the well loved iconic wideline frame was only really cut about and waisted to make the slimline to accomodate the 250's bathtub and use up the pile . Of course the "propagander* release said different !. The truth would not have gone down well with the very conservative "Bed lovers".

The -60 99 I had in the sixties was not a deluxe. Just a standard blue one. No Dzus. Seat came off on landing after a hump bridge.
