yes Robert i wouldn't mind some new steel rods. it just seems a bit odd that Norton have been around for so long you think some one would have made some barrels/pistons as a kit by now inline with the other repros on sale.

They do for Commandos. Maybe the usual suppliers feel there is insufficient demand for Dommie barrels. As they can't be sensibly bored over + 0.040" (well the 650 can't anyway, maybe the smaller ones can?) the demand is bound to grow. I could do with new barrels for my 650....
Of course there were many times more Triumphs built than there ever were Norton's, so the potential market for parts for Triumphs is much greater.
Commandos probably do higher mileages than Dommies, there are plenty around, so, once again, provide a bigger market.

i suppose all the known faults could be carried forward and rectified in the design and manufacturing process of the new ones. but like you say Ian theres not a great demand for them.

Even good Commando barrels…
Even good Commando barrels are becoming scarce, that's why I had mine silicon carbide impregnated by Laystall engineering after a re-bore.

Welcome to our world, I've been banging on about barrels and rods for years to no avail, eventually talked a mate into doing something about it, Barrels should be along sometime this year, perhaps rods next?, Thunder steel rods are availiable ,but seem pricey, to this old skinflint.
