99 clutch withdrawal check

Feeler gauges placed in the gap relative to the adjuster screws!

As Paul said., use a cable tie to partly lift the clutch so that you can measure the gap under the alloy pressure plate and adjust the springs to get it as constant as possible .I would use a wedge shaped bit of plastic or wood and mark it  to compare how far it goes in at points near the spring nuts. A tight primary chain will work against you.

.. pull the clutch lever and use the kickstart to rotate the clutch. Any wobble / discrepancy is easily seen.

Dial indicator on cast surface of suspect value.  The condition of the plate tangs, the hub and chainwheel slots have a huge effect on the clean throwout of the clutch.

I have used a dial gauge but find the wedge takes out the flop and gueswork.!.
