Hi
I'm re building a 1975 Mk3 commando and the rear brake master cylinder is past its best! I have freed it up but water has been inside it for nearly 30 years so the complete works is of no further use.
Has any member replaced the original master cylinders with a Japanese unit, such as a Honda Kawasaki Yamaha etc. as they would be more readerley available and cheaper to buy and or overhaul.
Your comments would be most welcome.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter
I used a cylinder from a YZF 125 £10 from the eBay. It gives a much improved brake, and
It was a fun job to do.
Best regards

Katherine, and Dave,that's…
Katherine, and Dave, that's exactly what I was looking for. They say a picture paints a thousand words and the example of the Yamaha parts laid out is self explanatory.
By the way Katherine, I've just finished making a pair of Folding Footrests as per your earlier posting, just waiting for springs to be made!
Keep the idea's coming I like bringing my Nortons into the 21st Century!
Thanks again.

Hi Peter,
Yes. I have a Yamaha rear master cylinder on my Mk111. You will need make up a mounting bracket or two. The main issue can be the remote reservoir. Make sure you get one with same size cylinder bore or slightly smaller.
