roadholder dampers

Forums

I have a 1969 Mercury SS.  The steering dampers normally have two holes drilled, but mine has four holes.  Can anybody tell me why my dampers would have four holes and the reason for it.  Would appreciate if somebody could throw some light on why this would be. I have attached a photo.
Regards Denis.

These are either normal earlier  Dommy dampers or someone has drilled extra holes in commando ones. Whatever. I would block all the holes and re-drill  2 holes higher up as in the Covenant conversion  notes..

Thanks Robert for your info.  Much appreciated.  We've sleeved the damper and drilled 2 new holes higher, as per your reply.  Cheers - Denis
