Hi,
I have a Norton Dominator project that I have started recently. My current problem is that the gearbox is a Burman and was told that it was from the bike but when fitting the sprocket is too low so the chain is touching the frame. See picture. Any advice before I cut the lower bolt hole and weld it in a different location?
Laydown Gearbox
Hi,
I have a Laydown gearbox with markings 102 on it. There is some crack's on the casing at the sprocket end so the casing needs to be changed. My question now is that can't seem to find a 102 but some 101 casing sold online. Can the casing be changed from 102 to 101 or is there some internal differences preventing this?
Thank you!

Even with a Laydown box my chain bounces on the frame! I've glued a piece of nylon there for the moment and that seems to be working! A bigger gearbox sprocket would also help, you could reduce the engine sprocket if it becomes over geared. I'd have a though a Domi would take a 21 gearbox sprocket without any problem?
With regard to the gearbox numbers I think the cases are the same, but will try and check, but you will have to make sure that you have the right length main shaft, the singles and twins are different lengths.
I would have thought you could get the case welded.

What is the correct size for the main shaft for a twin? Or how do I identify if I have the correct one?

Better off getting the correct Norton laydown box. They are readily available.
