My clutch lever is a bit difficult to pull in. Ive checked the plates and pressure plate setting, they are ok. It has a new cable and correctly routed.
Is there any advantage to soaking the plates in oil over night.

No it won’t help, is the cable nylon lined? I’ve had new cables that aren’t very good (I think they were Dougherty) Also check your lever, what is the distance between the pivot and centre of the nipple, it should be 7/8ths, many modern ones are 1 1/4“. I’ve always found that a good cable and careful adjustment has it operating nicely.
