Filling the Gearbox with Gear Oil
If gear oil is added through the large circular opening in the outer gearbox cover will it distribute everywhere it needs to be?
Thank You Mikeal
That is the answer I had hoped for. I had horror story images of having to fill through the drain plug opening.

Take your time.
Yes it does, but it can take a few minutes to find its level so don't keep filling the outer cover right up. Give it time to drain.
I don't actually remove the level plug. I have a stainless screw and in good light the tip is quite visible through the inspection cap, as is the oil level.

Thank You Richard
I will take my time filling the gear box leaving enough time for the gear oil to distribute.

I have often thought a fill…
I have often thought a fill plug on the top of the gearbox shell would be much more convenient. Filling the gearbox is a PITA.

Thank You Richard T
Yes I agree it's a PITA but far preferable to having to fill it through the drain opening using a large syringe.

Not really, easier than…
Not really, easier than filling the forks. Filling the gearbox is even easier if you use this -

This seems to be the oil of choice these days, nothing wrong with EP90 but it is thick on cold mornings.

I have a couple..
.. of old gearbox oil bottles with the pull-out flexible tube which I fill with the appropriate oil for this sort of job.

(and sometimes on other places too, depending on how much goes out of the level plug).
