Electronic ignition question

Forums

Evening. Hope someone can help as absolutely stuck. I am fitting the above to a Lucas SR1 magneto as coil is suspect. Not sure if used on Norton as well as seeking advice hoping the post and any answers will help anyone with a similar problem as the site shows some discussions of electronic ignition. Have fitted the electronic trigger mechanism inside the magneto and it is fully isolated on its plate as required from the body of the magneto then wired it into bike (1957 RE bullet 350 single) as per wiring diagram with for those who are familiar the green wire with on off switch to negative on battery. Red and black trigger wires to coil respective terminals and a red wire from the positive of battery to join at coil positive with trigger red exactly as wiring diagram. Inserted rotor in magneto on armature arm and loosely screwed on set TDC and matched magnets with black trigger mark for rough running before timing being set properly. Problem is no spark, Continuity tested fine on all wires, HT lead (including changed plug)  and earths (positive earth). My question in desperation is instructions say coil is earthed through clamp which is mounted in tool box. On my Norton dommie distributor ignition the coil is  isolated from earth on my test of the clamp under the tank.. Should the Thorspark coil be similarly isolated by putting insolation between coil and clamp. At moment have three earths on positive pole of battery. The original, an extra suggested by Thorpsark instructions and the coil through the clamp. My bonnie also has both coils isolated from earth. I also wonder if I did just try it by isolating the coil  to see what happens if it would damage the trigger unit on kicking over. Wired as is with the coil earthed it just kicks over but the fuse does not blow suggesting no shorts. Magneto is anticlock but can't see that would make a difference as magnets pass trigger point which ever way round goes..All wiring circuits for lights and ammeter working. Tearing what little hair left out so any help/advice gratefully appreciated. As Dommie starts very easily not sure will ever convert or advise conversion but stuck with this problem at moment and keep testing same things with the same results.  Hugh
