My Norton 650 SS has a positive earth which I thought would cause corrosion at the connections to the frame. The steel would become anodic in an electrolyte formed with moisture and hence would oxidise. Am I right and if so how can I limit the corrosion please?

I would stick with the positive earth, Its not been an issue over the last 62 years on my bike and I have loads of modern gismos.

The basic concept is correct, positive earth does 'encourage' corrosion of the positive potential. The first big problem area is the Positive terminal of the battery. If you removed and cleaned this every month you would reduce the effects. Covering the Positive terminal with Vaseline could be tried You could go Negative earth of course. Most of our Nortons (and later BSA and AJS Matchless, and Morris Minors) have of course survived this.
