Diodes for LED indicator warning light

Forums

Hi. I have fitted 12 volt Motogadget LED indicators to my 99 as I’m fed up with car drivers ‘not seeing’ my hand signals. I want to include a handlebar mounted warning light so I don’t forget to turn them off. However, I understand that I’ll need to fit a diode into each wire of the warning light to prevent all four indicators flashing at the same time. I’m not sure which diodes to use. I’ve looked on eBay and there seem to be quite a few different ones so I’m still not certain what’s required. Can any body please offer some guidance?

thanks very much

Any diode in the 1N4001 to 1N4007 series will do. All rated at 1 A. The 1N4001 handles up to 50V, the ones with higher last digit handles more. Fitting two warning lights, one for each side is also possible and eliminates the need for diodes.

I can supply these diodes and show you a diagram. al@aoservices.co.uk

Thanks everyone. That kit from ClassicCarLEDs looks very good. However, in the spirit of supporting the Club and fellow members I’ll get the parts from Al O.

Once again, thanks to all for the advice and contacts.

Regards

Tony
