Hi - just recommissioning the bike and checking this point?
Setting it up as per Boyer instructions at 31 degrees (from the primary case viewing hole) with the rotor wheel horizontal and in line with the Norton insignia on the case. Starts and runs fine and strobe tested at idle at 30 degrees. There are various web articles about the readings at subsequent RPM which differ a lot, though one says 28 degrees is correct.
At 3000 rpm, mine is reading 28 degrees - IS THIS CORRECT?
Any other checks recommended?
Thanks

Strobing with Boyer
I always adjust my Boyer timing at 5000 rpm to 31° Before TDC. It takes 2 people, one to hold the throttle steady at 5000rpm and stop the bike shaking itself backwards and the other person to shine the strobe light and try and read the timing marks. It works for me.

Hi Greg,
23 degrees at 3000rpm works for me and 6 degrees at idle speed of 1000rpm.
Full advance of 31 degrees at 5000rpm if you care to rev your motor that hard, because it's difficult to get an accurate strobe reading with the vibration.
