650 timing cover

Forums

Hi guy's.
I'm wanting to fit a rev counter to my 500 dominator. I've acquired a cover off a 650 along with the drive nut
everything fits perfectly is it just as simple as a straight swap or is there something else I should be looking at. The only difference I can see is that the new casing has a extra hole beneath the relief valve. It's a small threaded hole but has whatever should be in there missing what should screw into this please.

Check Dommie Service Notes and all will be revealed.
They say the two general types are interchangeable.  They don't actually say whether one is better than the other or why.

Sean, Further to David's answer - It is a 5/16th inch BSF bolt and usually has a copper washer to stop leaks. If your bike had the modification for oil pressure-fed rockers etc that lower hole in the cover would be for the bolt with hole for the oil and also takes the banjo for the feed upwards.  Cheers, howard
