Hello How do you know that the machine is a 1964 model as number plates are not the date of manufacture, Engine numbers workshop number and frame number may verify things , Yours Anna J

See attachments for number locations. These are the places to look for frame & engine numbers. For a 650SS engine I would expect to find 18 or 18SS or 650SS stamped somewhere on the front left side and rear engine cases. The engine number is generally 5 digits long if pre-1961 but 6 digits from then on.

The frame numbers should be on the left hand gusset just behind the primary case and above the swinging arm pivot.
