Water in magneto

I recently had mould forming on van seats and after cleaning now use desiccant bags that can be dried out after they change colour. One laid on the mag would do it . Mags used to be stored in the airing cupboard in the old days. 

Do you keep a blanket or similar over the bike inside the shed?  It hugely reduces condensation.  It might help to add plastic (I use bubble wrap or mattress cover pads) to prevent condensation from the roof dropping onto the cover.  I've not knowingly had water inside magnetos.  Segmental concrete garage (plus some rough texture internal finish which reduces but doesn't entirely prevent condensation drips from the roof).

Hopefully this doesn’t go too far off thread, but does the bike get ridden in the rain? Water could be running down the advance/retard cable and entering via a poor seal. If the bike is then stored the water would keep appearing as condensation.

My garage used to rain internally due to condensation. I bought a Carcoon bike bubble which worked perfectly for one bike, but my collection grew.

I used Celotex to insulate the roof and walls and covered the walls using OSB sheets and the ceiling was constructed using upvc soffits. This was an easy job and I now heat the garage in the winter and it’s nice to have rust-free bikes and tools!

when i stripped my mo1 magneto . i noticed it had a hole in the bottom of the caseing, towards the drive end inbetween the magnet and drive bearing .so i can only assume it was some sort of drain for water build up. i dont know, just thought i would mention it .
