No Spark

Hello Anthony, you don't say whether the bike is still running with the standards points system or electronic ignition. If it is electronic, what type is it? Bear in mind that almost all electronic systems use what's known as the 'wasted-spark' principle whereby both coils are triggered together - the coils are wired in series so if one is duff neither will work. If you are still on the standard points system, the coils are fired individually so if neither coil fires, there must be something wrong further back up 'the line'. Perhaps you have bought a couple of duff coils (what type are the new coils? If the original coils worked, I would suggest refitting them in the first case and take it from there ... .

have you got the plugs earthed against the engine rather than just hanging on the leads, else no spark. Just checking :-).

I'd edge my bets and say that it was a loose LT wire connecting the coils - any loose wire in that region would result in no spark at all (with most EI systems - due to the wasted spark system). I'd bear that in mind if it plays-up when you're out-and-about on it.
