Thanks very much to Richard for helping me sort out the valve timing on my 16h. Richard's instructions seemed very simple, straight-forward and easy - I don't know why I couldn't get it from the books etc! Old Smoky has started properly for the first time https://youtu.be/96-I2uBzbnc (if anyone's interested). the next problem is the smoke when it gets hot! There are no leaks at joints/gaskets so I guess it must be a worn Bore and then out through the valve guides as the smoke seems to come from all around the barrel?
Thanks
Gary.
Smoking is bad for you.

Thanks Richard, I have…
Thanks Richard,
I have been round the block a few times, engine runs very well, but still smokes when I pull up- melted the ht lead insulation a bit, does seem to be getting very hot.

Try checking the ignition…
Try checking the ignition timing. This can cause overheating. It shouldn't be able to melt the plastic HT lead.

That must be the very first…

Hi Gary,
Good to see you have got your 16H going, it sounds healthy on your video. It's possible it got too hot in your workshop with no air flow to help it. I would try it in normal riding conditions and see what it's like after a couple of hundred miles and see if the smoking is any less.
