Wideline oil tank breather

Hi all

Quick question,  the oil tank breather on my wideline has no hose connected and unfortunately breathes directly onto the 6v electronic box fitted by the PO.

I plan to add a short length of hose to direct any residual, there doesn't seem to be a lot. Should there be anything on the breather from standard?

Normally the 1/4 breather on the wideline tank feeds down to the chain guard and hence on the rear chain. Is there a short up ward pipe on the chain guard or just a handy hole? Or do you plumb the pipe to a plastic bottle that is tied to the rear number plate a la coffee shop racer?

As Al has said, it should go to the hole in the front end of the chainguard, to provide a bit of chain lubrication. I find it very effective, so that is what I would recommend you do. You may have to be a little bit creative in order to get the pipe to stay in the hole, if there is no fitting present, but worth it.

Hi

Checked the chain guard but no connector. As mentioned, there is a hole there which i'll use to get the breather directed to there.

I weld the pipe in. Currently on the bike the pipe from the top of tank goes there and the small pipe at back of tank goes to atmosphere is this wrong?

Hi Peter, sounds as if your tank has had a froth tower fitted as there should only be one pipe from the tank.

I fitted a tower to mine then blocked the 1/4” pipe at the rear. Does the breather from the rear of the crankcase feed up to the top of the tank? If so it is a froth tower and the other can be blocked.
