Led bulbs

Take a look at Paul Goff's website. The LEDs are bright, excellent as daytime running lights. Less sure about how effectively they light the road as I rarely ride at night these days.

As Ian says, LEDs are great for daytime running lights and indicators and are very power-efficient but you need to be careful to get a headlamp LED that gives a good beam pattern. They always look extremely bright when switched on in daylight but it doesn't necessarily follow that they'll illuminate the road well at night ... .

hello all now most led bulbs are ok  but the headlamp needs  a halogen quats bulb to get a good light pattern for night riding  and led bulbs do not last as long as the old filament bulbs do  Oh I tested them to destruction  the old filament bulbs last longer than led bulbs but led technology is moving and getting better  si it will get there in time,   yours  anna j

Some LED bulbs in the home seem to fail sooner than expected.  One recently installed now flickers.  The luminaire stays cool, but the base gets hot - so light fittings are just as hot as before.  Also, LED become progressively dimmer with age.  But it creeps up, so you tend not to realise why you can't read as easily after a few years.  And it's still not easy to get one as bright as an old 100 watt filament bulb.  I assume they think that nobody reads books any more.
