Hi there everyone, I've successfully fitted the Sure-Firesystem to a Mk3 Electric start Norton Commando which does start using the ES (after some persuasion - I may have to time it properly with a strobe). I have noticed that there is a white/purple cable grouprunning between the solenoid/capacitor under the seat originally connecting the kick-start system I think electrically to both 6V coils on their negative side 9according to the wiring diagram). This is not connected at the moment. The Sure-Fire system is getting its ignition feed from a white/yellow cable from the kill switch/start button, this being the only ignition-live feed in the same part of the loom. The question is - should I connect the white/purple cabling up to both the coils as well? Is it related to kick-starting the bike, or the reluctance to fire straight off on the button? I have also added a SS rectifier and two new 6V coils to give it the best chance of working!
With thanks

Well I would sell the pazon and the alternator too , get your self a Electrexworld STK-102D kit, this lot will give you ignition with big fat spark and Lights as well as charging your battery ,and its all self generating, This all fits in the Alternator precision witch give you your lighting and ignition as well all in one, easy to fit , So no need for the timing side parts , this can be blanked off or fit a SS timing cover so check out ,www.Electrexworld.co.uk
Thank you for this info. I think I will stick with what I've just put in for the time being though. Any ideas about the white/purple group of wires and it's function?

Hi all, I received this reply from Pazon, first thing this morning, their time! Thought you might like to see it........."Thanks for contacting us.When fitting our ignition, all original wires will normally be removed/disconnected, including the white-purple wires. Also, the ballast resistor should be disconnected (not required). The white-purple wire is intended to provide full 12 volts to the 6 volt coils, only when the starter is activated. This effectively bypasses the ballast resistor, providing extra power to the coils when cranking the engine. This can no longer be used with the electronic ignition system. With the electronic ignition fitted, the only connections to the coils will be the black wire from the module, the link wire between the coils and the module red wire+grounding wire.Hope this helps.Best regards,Andy PerkinsPazon Ignitions Ltd.Keeping Classic Bikes on the Road"So there we are.Andy K

One small point re the above information. The purple wire-the ballast resistor and the two condensors are ALL only used on points ignition. ALL electroinic ignitions do not need these.
