Testing Warning light control unit

I recently had an issue with my 1977 850 Commando MK3. The solid state regulator/rectifier overcharged the battery when hot.

I have replaced the regulator/rectifier with a new Podtronics 200W 16 amp single phase unit and replaced the battery.

The bike now fires up and the battery appears to be charging normally, strangely the rear light bulb has blown, everything else appears to be OK apart from the red warning light stays on.

Is there a way to test that the warning light control unit is OK apart from replacing it.

I had to replace the Podtronics on my MkIII after it started blowing main fuses. It might have been because of non-suppressed plug covers (now replaced), time will tell....

The warning light light control unit (either Norton manufacture or from A O Services or Paul Goff) are there to detect that the battery voltage is rising, ie when on charge. So if the warning light starts to miss-behave then check battery voltage for correct charging.
