Jubilee with sloppy kick start.

Could be just the pawl in the kick-start ratchet has jammed or rusted in so it doesn't locate in the 1st gear internal teeth

.....I would try pulling the kickstart right down and let it flick back....do this several times and eventually the shock might free up the pawl. Once free it should be OK....but no promises it will come out of hibernation.

To check if the clutch has somehow stuck in the disengaged position (extremely unlikely) put the bike in gear and push it to see if the engine is turned over. The test will be self evident if the clutch is OK.

If this does turn the engine over you might be successful in bump starting it.

If no luck with my first suggestion:

If you do get it started, put the bike on the stand with the engine running and pull down the kickstart and also let it flick back...eventually you should hear the rapid clicking of the pawl if it manages to come out of the stuck in position.

The pawl is part of the ratchet, it's the bit that sticks out to engage the mechanism as you kick.

Yes it is John.....The kickstart ratchet B58 drives the 1st gear layshaft cog which has the built in kickstart wheel or teeth Part: B48. The mechanism is driven in sideways to mesh.....not like the heavyweight boxes where there is a pawl so I might have confused you earlier....my mistake....one lives and learns....

You will have to dismantle and fondle every little piece. Don't expect a full explanation in your head before you start. Mechanics don't work that way. It will become totally clear when you have the oily pieces in your hands and only then.
