The bracket, that is. I'm pretty sure the other thing is a 2p piece.
It - the bracket - fell out of the headlamp nascelle when I removed the lens.

It looks like a part that is rivetted to the headlamp rim with the two prongs to engage with a tab on the reflector and stop the light unit rotating. I'm not sure about the other tab though.

Ah, that makes sense. I wondered about the small broken rivet still sitting in the rim. Thanks Richard.

Also explains why the lens had rotated in the nascelle.

Hello there,
I don't recognise the clip in your picture at all.
The lens should be held in to the chrome rim by three or four spring clips (W clips I think they are called) and there is another heavier clip which locks the light unit into the housing by one screw from underneath the light. The Navigator headlight is a 6 &1/2 inch Wipac; maybe you have a different headlight?.

That's exactly what I've got Patrick - two W clips and the bottom clip secure by a screw. But also the mystery clip and a broken rivet in the chrome rim that looks the same diameter as a hole in the clip. Hmm.

Having just been into the garage at 23-30 ! and removed my headlamp unit I can confirm the clip! It holds the socket onto the Wipac switch and there should be 2 of them. The twin pronged bit goes under the switch to headlamp, you need the switch to be loose to do this, then the socket is put on the switch and then the clip holds the socket in place.BUT the above is partial nonsense as the picture you show in effect has the springy clip which holds the socket missing...But the twin progs are the same and the hole in the middle is. So I wonder if this was another variation of said switch clip?I have a 64 Electra.

Thanks Alan, I shall have a look again when my new main bulb arrives from the NOC shop.
