Thanks to feedback from my query regarding the Norvil/Comeau starter motor, I'm going to fit one to my Mk3 (no starter at the moment.)
I have read that a solenoid from a Mini is a good upgrade to the standard part (and from what I've seen on Ebay, a quarter of the price of the heavy-duty units offerred by Norvil.)
What I need to know, is specifically which Mini solenoid I need. I know it's from a Leyland Mini, rather than one of those new-fangled German things, but it looks like there were different types of solenoid used at different times.
Can anyone please help with the part number or year?
Allan.

To be honest I've just gone over to using a really heavy duty starter for a Ford F150 truck and I had trouble with the mini unit. Suspect with Dave Comeau's motor that even the standard uint will be POK.

Thanks Luke,
I'll look out for something from a larger-engined car. It's bound to be cheaper than the Norvil offerings. I just need to check physical size, or have you found a better mounting point than in the standard small space behind the battery?
Allan.

Allan,
The space behind the battery is fine for a huge relay. Mine cost me $10 at Canadian Tire (try Halfords or similar). Mind you I'm using the Mark 1 battery tray on my mark 3.
