Hi everyone
I have just bought a 1953 ES2, it is my first old bike (apart from a 79 Kawasaki Z650), I have read about older bikes for a while before taking the plunge, so it is all a bit of a mystery to me.
I am really enjoying it, the right foot gear change and left foot brakes are taking some getting used to, its made a lot easier by the fact that wherever I am in the gear box I can always find a neutral somewhere... (is this normal?). The bike is a good runner but the tyre's are showing some minor cracking in the side walls, they are fine for local runs but I want to take her on some minor touring and would like to replace them, does anyone have any recomendations? She currently has Dunlop gold seal K70's which seem OK but I am thinking of replacing them with an Avon ribbed front and a safety mileage on the back. I have a couple of modern bikes, and would like handling as good as is reasonable for a bike this age, but have modest, hopefully realisticexpectations, any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Mark
PS, I have plenty of more stupid questions like this.

Hi Thanks for the replys,…
Hi
Thanks for the replys, I think I will stick an Avon ribbed on the front and ponder the rear (which is not too bad) for a while.

Mark,
i have heard favourable comments about the Avon tyres for your ES2, they are what i am planning for my 16H which also has tired tyres on it at present.
Cheers
