I see all the Norton tanks on the Indian supplied tanks have the word 'Norton' blanked off. This means we can't see the transfer. Is this the dead hand of the new holder of the company name, demanding royalties from vintage parts suppliers? So they retain exclusive rights to 'Norton' as a brand label on 'fashion' goods....

You are probably correct. My guess is also that the tanks have never had the correct transfer to match those originally fitted at the factory.
