Afternoon All!
My Maintenance Manual & Instruction Book (Publication 105/P) tells me at para 33 that with the weight of the bike on the wheels there should be 3/8" to 1/2" slack in the rear chain.
I don't have a side stand and don't fancy leaning the bike up against a wall while I make the adjustments, so can anyone suggest an equivalent amount of slack when the bike is safely on the main stand?
Cheers!
Nick

Hi Nick, if you have the bike on the centre stand then maybe an inch minimum
between push up and pull down at the centre of the lower chain run. Check no tight spots. Other views will appear.
I know that when I turn the rear wheel counter clockwise like on the overrun. Looking from drive side. On centre stand. Top run is under no tension. If I hear the chain dragging over the swinging arm at the front chain guard mount, time to tighten the chain. There is very little rear wheel movement between tension just right and dragging on swinging arm.
