Hello all,
Recently, I bought a set of Model 50 crankcases. Am I right these are from a late alternator model and am I looking at a rev counter drive?
Cheers,
Tim

Thank you Peter, that's good…
Thank you Peter, that's good to know.
Inexperience still showing here... I haven't taken one of these engines apart yet (but that time will be soon) and the thread looked very much like that of a speedo or rev counter drive. I can't remember ever seeing a rev counter on a Model 50, which is why I presumed it would be an alternator model.
Glad that's all cleared up, thanks for that!

tacho drive
Hello
As far as i know they were no tacho drives on the ES2 or model 50 but i maybe wrong. On my 520 special i had to modify the timing cover to accept a 90degree tacho drive which i bought from the club. This entailed making a suitable platform welded into the casing with screw holes and machining a drive nut to connect to the tacho drive
If you like i could post you a picture of what i did
Regards
Geoff

Tim,
This is the drive that Pushrod Performance shows on their website.

Thanks both
Thanks for your answers. I'm not looking to attach a tacho, I was just wondering what it was, because it just looked similar.
Still, for future reference, some photo's are always interesting for those ending up on this thread.
Kind regards,
Tim

No, Thats the crankcase breather connection and they aren't alternator cases
