Is it worth getting these serviced, new seals/pads etc and where would be the best place to send the caliper or would it be better to fit a different caliper with adaptor plate and if so then where best to obtain that?

If you mean the standard Lockheed calliper as fitted on the Commando, then they are easy to service. There is nothing special required other than the peg spanner to get the cover off.

The standard calliper is perfectly adequate but I would heartily recommend the 13mm master cylinder conversion if you have not done that already.
