Dan-thanks for your kind words again but the above link deals with the general issues for 6V-12V with Lucas alternators. The Jubilee has Wipac....so in this case a good starting point (another one I wrote...) is on my web site www.aoservices.co.uk if you click on the orange icon top right you will go to some pdfs, one of which is specific for the Jubilee, Navigator, maybe even the Electra.Fine on what you have done Dan, but once you want 12V and electronic ignition then a complete rewire is really needed. I did fit a standard loom for one customer on his Electra and by the time we were finished with the generator/regulator changes and then the ignition changes we had a lot of mods, it was starting to look messy.Really it wanted a start again and wire from scratch, wouldn't have taken much longer either.Al O

12 voltsis wellworth the extra cost then you can use electronic
ignition like boyer etc. I found the points system very hard to time and keep working for any length of time. Bruce Main Smith does a reprint of the old instruction manual and parts book a very big help

AL I was looking for that guide and forgot you provided it! Here is the link

I think the only mods I have made to the club loom was not to use 2 the wires from the Boyer box to the coils. The biggest disappointment are that the connector blocks don't fit the switches in the headlight very well, they won't go all the way on, but they work. I guess the Electra loom is more complicated with the electric start?

You would have altered the connections to the rectifier and you should have altered some of the alternator wiring that goes through the light switch. The Electra has only the one wire to the starter solenoid, ie it is not a great change but then there is the alternator switching with mechanical regulator box fixed on the rear mudguard to be removed. The interesting point I found was that my alternator switching box was still working some 50 years after manufacture, but the battery voltage was always too much or not enough so changing to a Zener brought the voltage right.

If you intend to ride it at night I'd say yes. Have a look here. http://www.nortonownersclub.org/support/technical-support-electrical/6v-to-12v-alternator-conversion
i bought a new club loom and reg/rec from AO services along with a Boyer ignition, it was easy to fit and the bike started first kick after the rebuild. I did need some coloured wire and bullet connectors.
