Hello All,
I took the head (s) off the navigator yesterday. Considering the crimes of a previous owner I was pleasantly surprised. They seem to have build the engine many years ago and never started it or put. Everything is not far off finger tight. There are a few dings in one head and slight chipping of the cup on one cam follower.
The head gasket was some odd composite thing--copper with something sandwiched in between.
The pistons look clean and the valve do not appear pocketed. I have taken the barrel off yet--I believe there are some screws that need undoing first.

Here is the pinion I need to remove.
Last question (promise) what diameter is a Navigator stem post.
The BSA one I have is over an inch and its cones will not fit a navigator cup so a re-think is called for here.
Cheers
JPA

You will have to buy the puller for that pinion. The good news is that you can't live without it and it fits so many Nortons and Triumphs.

Hello Jonathan,
Which puller is it? and, where can I get one? Is the drill chuck type thing that the corresponding pinion on a triumph needs--they all seem to say they fit Nortons--I had no idea they did. I have done it with two long levers before but--if i had one it would fit every engine I own bar one. I am resuming this is it
Cheers
