What happened to my old Commando?

I have just returned to the NOC after a few years absence and wondered if anyone can shed any light on my old Commando. In 1972 I bought a new 750 Interstate from Shirlaws Motorcycles in Aberdeen, Reg No URS403K, over the years I have tried without success to trace it, last heard of in Linlithgow, the DVLA site shows it was last taxed in 1989,tax due 1st Dec 1990 and AskMID shows no insurance or MOT. This may mean it was scrapped or exported,if it was lying in a shed somewhere it would need to be on SORN,but I am not sure about that. I would love to hear of the bike again, does anyone have any information.

Billy.

The SORN regs were introduced in January 1998 and were not retrospective - there is no SORN requirement for vehicles that were last taxed before that date.

Theoretically, if it were to be exported then there should be an 'Export marker' on the records...Certainly if it went to Europe it would have been necessary to do that in order to register there.

Wouldn't a '72 Interstate be a 'Combat' ? ....I bet I know what happened !surprise
