Another (probably silly!) Qfrom a Commando newbie: there is a red warning light embedded in the headlamp shell of my 1972 Commando Roadster. I have not succeded in getting it to light up, even when replacing the complete unit. Now I assume this should be the "IGNITION ON" warning? Right or wrong? If so where is it fed from? I would like an indication of ignition status, to assure myself that the key is in the right position.

Al Os's post on the electrical sub-forum explains the assimilator thing. Don't be put off by 'MkIII' in the title.

Nice, quite a comprehensive explanation and certainly a subject to "dive" into!

Hi Tom,
Not silly at all, from what I understand there is a thing called the charge warning light assimilator (part number 062054), this should put the red light on when you first turn the ignition on and it should go out when the alternator starts to output more then is demanded by the load.
Quite where this sits on a 750 I could not say. Anyone ??
Regards
Tony
