hello,
thought i would renew the swinging arm bushes on my bike, (55) 19s.
the bushes i have done before have just pressed out from the one side. but this time the bushes jammed up. as i found out later its because there was a build up of rust in the centre of the tube where the spacer is located. so they would not budge. even with heat from my old faithful blow torch.
all i could think of doing was to press the central tube and rubbers out of the bushes completely. and then weld a piece of metal to the end of one of the bushes, enabling me to press it back out away from the centre, from where it was jammed up. this also made it easier to remove the other bush the other side as well.
fitted the new bushes ok. i put a piece of plastic drain tubing round the socket. in case it shattered. when using it to press the bushes in.
