Hi. I have a late model1973 Commando that doesn't have the tube coming out of the oil pump. Which would hold the seal to the out timing cover in place. Is this correct?

I hope not as this would limit the oil getting to the big ends. Hopefully it was just forgotten when the oil pump was possibly serviced.

Can do, that is why it is a good idea to have a spare or two. That and the gasket should be your final check when refitting the cover. They are crushed in use and should not be reused.
