Mk.2 Amals

Forums

Does anyone have any experience of fitting Mk 2 concentrics as a pair to a 850 twin, jetting, neadle, cut away etc. I'm in the process of building a Mk11a engine & gearbox into a wide line frame and am now at the carb stage, I picked up a pair of 30mm Mk2 concentrics with suitable manifolds etc and just need to know good place to start with the set up, I'm running Pazon ignition, PW 3 cam and meggas otherwise standard.

I would start by jetting it the same as the Mk1 Amals normally fitted to your bike. You can fiddle with the settings from there. The PW3 cam may allow a little more mixture past. what air fiter are you planning? K&Ns flow more air than std filters so will run weak etc. all aspects of the jetting have an overlap, for instance the pilot jet will still be having a diminishing effect well past half throttle and the main jet will not have a great deal of effect until the throttle is almost fully open. If you are brave and have the courage to have your bike revved to the limit you might spend £50 on a rolling road session and get a proper readout of the carbs performance and some professional advice.
