Matching crankcase numbers

Forums

Does anyone know how to tell the crankcase halves are matching, where are the numbers etc.

On the bigger twins normally they are on the underside towards the back, 2 matching 3 digit numbers, 1 on each half and very untidy. Probably same on smaller twins too.

thanks John, engine still in frame and no sign, but will be out soon, more to do to this little bike than I expected.

I've definitely seen them ... may be on the front/back near the barrels? I'll try and look tomorrow - too cold in the garage now and the wood burner is burning nicely in the lounge so I'm not moviing! As for more work than you expected ..........that's guaranteed!

Hello there,

I've just had a look at a spare Jubilee engine and I find that the letter T is stamped on both sides of the crankcase. This is on the flat bit of the cases just in front of the top rear mounting i.e below the carburettor.

I don't know if this relates to matching halves but it seems likely.

Patrick
