I have the seal and ready to install, is it a straight swop or should I add a touch of grease or maybe silicon sealer?
I couldn’t get the bush out…

That's exactly why I didn't…
That's exactly why I didn't replace it, I took one look at the bush and thought that's going to be a problem. Fitted a new kick start shaft and 500 miles later all of a sudden it's leaking like a stuck pig.
Should have done it in the first place, thanks for the information.

Bush or seal, the seal does…
Bush or seal, the seal does not need the Bush to be removed to replace the seal. Just lift it out with a seal pick and lightly grease the new seal and insert it.

I seem to remember..
.. that when I did the one on my Commando I put a very light smear of silicone in the recess. And I'm sure I didn't need to remove the bush. But it was a long time ago.

I couldn’t get the bush out on mine, so just picked out the old seal and cleaned. I did lube the seal with some grease to help flip it into the groove, easier than doing it dry.
I used the new x seal type and have had no leaks since.
