Crank case oil leak

Hi , has anybody had to replace a seal believed to be between the alternator and the back of the crank case .

the gasket on the crank case does not seem to be leaking .

In which case the answer is yes, lot's of us have had to do that one :)

No , other side , I since been told that there is a cable that goes through the back of the caseing but not sure if it is how to seal it .

Old ones become hard and the hole opens out, fit new soft one plus a bit of silicone goo for backup.
