A large auction house is advertising a 1966 Dominator 99. I'm not thinking of buying it (one 99 is enough for me!) but I didn't think they were still making 99s in 1966?

The last 99
The last factory production 99 was built at Bracebridge in August 1962. It appears to have been 14 103929 and was from a batch of four exported to New Zealand around January 1963.
Thanks to the appearance of the very desirable 650SS, the demand for the 99 crashed over-night and a good many 99, 99SS and a few 99 De Luxe bikes then sat around dealers for up to two years or more or got quietly shipped overseas.

According to those numbers, it is a 1966 650SS frame, fitted with a 1958 600cc 99 engine.
