Can anybody suggest where I might get a 3 keyway, Timing Gear Pinion for my 1937 16h please?
I thought I had found one but it turns out to be thicker than my original one and the Timing cover won't fit on with it all in place I have tried RGM, Andover Norton, Norvil and Racing Norton.
Thanks
Gary Oates
Half-time pinion.

Russell Motors ?
If the NOC don't have one then it's definitely worth trying Les at Russell Motors, although he's easing down and not always easily contactable.
If not, could the '38 pinion not be ground down ? I could certainly measure a used earlier type.

Hi Gary,
The pinion you have is the redesigned 1948 type, which is the same except the width as you have discovered. Your 1937 engine uses the same pinion as push-rod and side-valve engines from 1931 to 1947 and more than 120,000 are believed to have been made.
Blays of Twickenham specialise in WD parts and there should be other long established dealers who should have old stock. If you are O.K. with second-hand, you should be able to find one at any of the large auto-jumbles.
