Upgrading rear tail lamp to LED - keeps blowing fuse / Dom 99DL with 12v conversion

Forums

Hi I thought I'd chucked in an LED bulb as slightly brighter than standard bulbs, but pop - fuse went!?
Knowing little about 1961 / converted lectrics, is this expected?

Led tail and brake bulb fitted to our bike ,no issues. perhaps you got the bulb in wrong and bridged live to the earth?

The conversion to 12V will not affect this problem, but that is why we have a fuse! Replace the fuse with an instrument lamp on a couple wires with clips, this will light up instead of blowing the fuse. And of course in this case the fuse 'would blow' only when the lights were switched on, fault is obviously within the rear light.

I purchased a Goff LED Positive conversion kit earlier in the year.  It was supposed to be plug and play for the £50 I invested and actually was.  All the bulbs lighting up when asked to. The dipped beam was not that good but the main, instrument, rear light and stop light were massive improvements and drew just a fraction of amps when compared to the previous power drain.
However, I noticed than when the lights and engine were all off the rear light continued to glow, albeit very dimly. Checking all the connections, bulb socket and wiring route did not provide an answer.
Is this a duff bulb or some latent power making a nuisance of itself???
