Electra spares source

Forums

New to NOC, New to Norton. New to Electra. I am fast discovering that there don't seem to be great sources for Electra parts other than tune-up parts and a few other bits.  This is compounded doubly in USA. other than Ebay are there any sources for Electra parts?

thanks from the newbie

I speak from the UK. You should read the development history, on this website, of the Norton Lightweights. Early Jubilee begat later Jubilee and Navigator which begat the Electra. So most commonality is with the later Navigator. Armed with an Electra parts book buy by part number. There is a great risk you will buy parts that will only suit the other models of lightweight. For fork parts, and wheels, the Electra shares with Dominator models. I have found Electra parts on US Ebay. My rear fender came that way. Be more specific and perhaps members will offer advice. Norvil and the NOC spares scheme, which both sell by part number, have been good for me. Also RGM have some parts too.
Welcome to NOC with your Electra.

Peter, thanks so much for the insights. At the front I suspect I will do a thorough scrubbing, fluids drain and refill and Tank cleaning before seeing how well I can duplicate the PO's video showing the bike running. Onward from there, a carb kit, valve adjustment and tune up before doing a deep dive into what is needed. I will start with those sources done well by you in preparing my first parts order. My Electra is numbers matching, #7769. In some reading I've done on the light twins forum on Electra, I reckon that it might be a fairly late edition. However I've not yet figured where to look at records of number by model by total production.

Thanks

Hello Greg
If you look at the toolbar at the top of this website, go to the Library tab and scroll down to the Online Library. There you will find a link to the Lightweight Compendium. This is only readable online, you cannot download it. It contains the distilled wisdom of Lightweight owners over many years as published in Roadholder Magazine.

Michael, thanks so much for that insight. I had found that source and pondering wher there was a way to print it or a printed copy to purchase. But at least the online version will get me to some answers for many of of the Electra questions I will have.

..is available through the club shop. Not very expensive, although I think postage to the US is more than the book! https://shop.nortonownersclub.org/light-twins-compendium-copy-copy-copy-copy

Oops something went wrong with the link, but it can be found in the shop under publications.
