I'll tell you why I chose the Norvil unit.
Alton are known for susceptibility to backfires.and from an engineers point of view flimsy components have been noted.
CN W looks to be the starter of quality but 8 thousand miles away.
Stories of bikers paying out a thousand quid a time to rectify issues, not suitable for my meagre resources that's for sure.
I bought the Norvil starter system to avoid all of the above issues and I am enjoying the added benefit of the out rigger bearing for the gearbox that is inherent within the purchase. The whole system oozes quality.
Another advantage is the new gearbox cradle. If you have a worn swinging arm tube on your existing unit you will get a new one.
Finally I must mention the new clutch basket and crank pulley being components of the belt primary drive. Oh! And the new battery that is more than adequate to spin this Combat motor of mine.
Once the Norvil package was available for inspection I went down to see what I was spending the best part of three thousand quid was and left with a big smile on my face knowing full well that this was worth every penny.
In modern parlance a total no brainer.
As an aside this stater kit was dearer than my house back in 1972!
