Hello folks,
I've decided to service the brake on my recent Dommie 88 purchase before I take the bike out for a run, I found I had a slightly rough wheel bearing so decided to replace both.
I've removed one bearing from the side with the removable cover easily enough, the spacer came out but left one end place still in the wheel so I need to remove that and the other bearing, there oddly are no felt seals present as noted by the parts diagram.
I'm not familiar with the peculiarities of this bike so I'm unsure if what I have has been tinkered with. Could you knowledgeable folks have a look at the attached photo's and give me their thoughts, personally I think it look's a bit odd but that could simply be 1960's engineering.

Hi, one bearing was a 2RS the other an open cage, the main conundrum here is why the spacer is in two pieces, seems it may have been faulty or damaged on assembly by the previous owner, either way it doesn't want to come out at the moment which is my main challenge

The remaining bearing
To get that bearing out you need to prise out the steel washer on the outside. It is just held in by those four dings in the housing. Crude but effective. then drive it out from the other side. I warm the alloy before I try and remove or fit those bearings as you don't want to end up with a loose outer bearing. I use a heat gun but you could pour boiling water over it.

Bearing Spacer
Hi Roy.....When you finally managed to extract the Bearing Spacer, mark it up so that it is replaced the same way round as it came out. If it is like the rear spacer then it will be a handed item with one shoulder longer than then other.
The Haynes Dominator manual is very good with regard to dismantling and re-assembling the wheel hub innards.

I've got the old bearing and the broken spacer out from the hub, just waiting on new parts being delivered and I can get the wheel reassembled, once done I'll start on the rear wheel and with luck have fewer issues.

Did the bearings have seals fitted? If so there is no real need for the felt dust shields.
2RS bearings are sealed for life (both sides) so you wont have to stuff grease in the void where the separator spacer fits between the bearings.
There is nothing stopping you from fitting the felts as well.
