Rear Brake Safety Pedal Spring '71 fastback (06-4172)

Forums

In the numerous boxes of parts that came with the bike I have the above.  I can't see where it fits on pedal, if it does at all?  The parts catalogue doesn't show it which I suppose is a clue but there is a reference (picture) to it on the AN parts list with (0 x 21A) which I interpret not needed.  Has it been done away with?  I just want to clear it up in my mind

They weren't fitted by the factory but are well worth fitting. If the brake cable broke, without that spring the brake pedal would drop down and dig in the road and possibly tip you off. Extremely unlikely that cable would break but why take the chance?

Ian many thanks for that.  Clears that one up for me.  Where exactly do they fit on the pedal.  I'm ass uming near to the brake pedal pivot.  I'll have a look online for any pictures

My wife, Jill (Membership Officer), worked for Warwickshire police prior to retirement and I remember one day riding my Commando to the police station where she worked. The sergeant was admiring the bike and suggested that I anchored the rear brake cable such that it couldn't accidentally jump and hook onto the footrest mountings. Apparently the police riders had had a couple of 'issues' with their Interpols whereby the cable could hook-up during high speed bumpy conditions and cause the rear brake to involuntarily lock-up the rear wheel - a 'change of uniform' situation!

I consequently anchored mine with a small cable-tie.
